With AI pushing limits, copywriting‘s on a rollercoaster ride—but not that the industry is “totally crushed,” maybe not quite yet. The truth is, AI prompts are the stuff of myth and a time-saver, churning out mundane repetitive work like product descriptions or outlines faster than we can blink, so that copywriters don’t have to be saddled with the drudgery. The catch? People still yearn for the heart, wit, and voice that can’t be quite replaced by AI (at least not currently). Bottom line? Copywriting will not vanish overnight, it is shifting radically at breakneck pace.

AI is essentially an over-the-top efficient draft assistant that does not sleep and the results are surprisingly rapid, with phenomenal SEO optimization rates. AI drafts need a human touch still to curate, edit, infuse emotions, and build a campaign that resonates. By 2025, we can expect to witness this hybrid approach as the new normal, where 90% of marketers use AI solutions in assisting them maximize conversions and minimize on marketing spend.
The catch: lower-level, mechanical copywriting is getting hit the hardest, and more advanced, strategic, and specialized writing goes through the roof. Copywriters who can adjust to an AI world—i.e., learning tools, relying on creative narrative, and becoming a master of a niche area—will be able to surf longer. So, of course, there is no doubt AI will kill off some aspects of copywriting, but don’t worry: the craft of copywriting won’t die; it just will seem to be wiser, more intelligent, and a lot, lot faster.
If I’m being honest? The finish line is not next year, or the one after. It’s a long relaunch where humans are still a necessary element of the project—even as AI can generate first drafts at supersonic speed.
In short: AI is not going to totally destroy copywriting anytime in the near future, but it is reshaping the terrain of the copywriting industry, fast. Either get with the program or become obsolete.
